Traditionally, this entity was divided into two functional areas, one that deals with regulation, control and supervision over economic and financial matters, and the other for the regulation, control and supervision over administrative matters.
With the new Apostolic Constitution, the Holy See's Human Resources Department was established under the same Secretariat for the Economy. Through dialogue and cooperation with the entities concerned, it provides for all matters concerning job positions and management of personnel, authorization to hire, verifying all requirements, and it approves staff organizational charts.
